A Spot of Summer Upcycling

Those of you who visited our stand at Chelsea and Chatsworth Flower Show this year, might remember our stunning garden furniture display, complete with giant Emma Bridgewater tea pot, alongside a set of beautiful cushion covers created by National Garden Scheme trustee, Sue Phipps.

Sue came up with the fantastic idea of creating these cushions using our very own National Garden Scheme tea towels, proving very popular with visitors – it turns out that our sunny designs double up as the perfect material to spruce up your furniture! Who doesn’t love a summer project?

Now inspiration is evidently spreading as a few people have been spotted getting creative with their merchandise purchases!

Designer and blogger Juliet Bawdon, shared a fabulous video demonstrating how to re-cover and paint a drop in chair, using the National Garden Scheme tea towel. You can view her blog post here on Creative Colour.

We’d love to see what you’ve been up to with your merchandise – whether you’ve been getting creative or just enjoying your purchases, why not post a picture on social media with the hashtag #greatgardensgreatdesigns and we’ll share our favourites!
