Join us for a magical midsummer party
“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine…
Lull’d in these flowers with dances and delight.”
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Explore the delights of a magical garden this midsummer on Friday, June 21 when Hazleby House near Newbury hosts ‘Music in the Garden’ in aid of the National Garden Scheme.
Unwind in this exquisite private garden, chilled glass of wine in hand, and enjoy the exceptional, classical design first laid down by international landscaper and garden designer, Martin Lane-Fox and so sumptuously enhanced by its current owners.
You’ll be serenaded by multi award winning soul singer-songwriter, Natasha Watts and welcomed by the National Garden Scheme president and nation’s favourite baker, Mary Berry. And, to tempt you further, there are treasures to be found in both the live and online auctions, and raffle all raising funds for the National Garden Scheme and the nursing and health charities it supports.
Conducted by veteran auctioneer Nick Bonham, the live auction consists of exclusive lots including a private visit to the garden of world-renowned designer Tom Stewart-Smith, a Grand Tier box for 12 at the Last Night of the Proms, and a week at a luxury chalet for ten in Meribel. There are also amazing raffle prizes to be won on the night including a teak ‘Lutyens’ bench and a tour of the Bombay Sapphire distillery. The silent auction – open to garden guests and online bidders – has 34 stunning lots from fine wines to a selection of rare trees from Kew.
There will be a plant sale – so having been inspired by the exceptional garden of Hazelby House you can buy a selection of beautiful home-grown plants for your own garden too. And there will also be a raffle, full details of which can be viewed here. All proceeds go to the National Garden Scheme.
Don’t miss out on this magical midsummer moment.
