St Wolstan's House, Wigston Magna

Approx ½ acre divided into garden rooms with formal and informal planting plus specimen trees. The New Barn, Desford

A large, sloping ¾ acre garden with wonderful views. Enter via a side gate and follow a narrow path opening up into what feels like a secret garden, different levels and spaces add to this illusion enabling you to admire the planting and views. This is a well established plantsman’s garden with many unusual plants, inc a collection of asters and Benton irises. National Collection of Geranium Phaeum cultivars. Opens Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September.

Hammond Arboretum, Market Harborough

A site of just under 2½ acres containing an unusual collection of trees and shrubs, many from Francis Hammond’s original planting dating from 1913 to 1936 whilst headmaster of the school. Species from America, China and Japan with malus and philadelphus walks and a moat. Proud owners of three champion trees identified by national specialist and 37 which are the best in Leicestershire. Opens Sunday 5th October.

Tresillian House, Melton Mowbray

¾ acre garden re-established by current owner. Beautiful blue cedar trees, specimen tulip tree. Variety of trees, plants and bushes reinstated. Original bog garden and natural pond. Koi pond; glass garden room holds exhibitions and recitals. Vegetable plot. Cowslips and bulbs in springtime. Wide variety of unusual plants, trees and shrubs. Quiet and tranquil oasis. Opens Sunday 26th October.
