City centre oasis, a short walk from the centre of Nottingham. Garden presented on three levels, separated by steep steps with handrails. The top terrace overlooks a large koi pond surrounded by bog plants, marginals and herbaceous perennials. Seating areas on second terrace under mature beech trees. On third level, a summerhouse as well as a small pond and densely-planted borders. Opens Sunday 18th June.
Visitors will discover a 1⅓ acre garden that gently slopes from formal flower beds to well-stocked borders to informal woodland walks, with a number of secret pathways. There is also a large vegetable garden, polytunnel and fruit cage. David and Julie took on the garden as a retirement project but have not yet retired, so the garden is a work in progress. An opportunity to see an imaginative 2 acre garden in early development, started in 2018 from an open lawn. The garden consists of islands of unusual shrubs and perennials, with many original features such as a large sunken firepit, a moongate entranced pond area, and sculptures.
