Old Camps, a designer dream

Old Camps in Hampshire is a breathtaking garden set over an acre with panoramic views of Watership Down. Garden owner, landscape designer and National Garden Scheme volunteer, Adam Vetere introduces us to this beautifully planned space.
A closer look
Despite being set over an acre the careful planning, terraces and garden rooms give the impression of a far larger garden. The newly created Ravine Garden runs alongside the property while Mediterranean terraces, old style cottage garden planting and prairie borders inspired by Piet Oudolf lend a sense of timelessness and contemporary design.
More surprises await, including an enchanting knot garden and potager along with exuberant subtropical schemes; featuring bananas, cannas, hedychiums and more. To the front of the house a pergola shimmers with the purple haze of a spectacular wisteria. You’ll want to linger in this magical place that was built on the site of a Roman Camp and Bath House.
- Colour and form create a beautiful space
- The potager rich in edibles and style
