Some of the projects our donations fund

We are proud to be the most significant charitable funder of nursing charities in the country, with £50 million donated so far. This year we have focused our efforts even further on helping our beneficiaries with big projects, we’ve listed just a few below:

Parkinson’s UK will this year receive an extra £50,000 to their 2016 donation amount.

Steve Ford, Chief Executive of Parkinson’s UK explains: “Since we joined forces, Parkinson’s UK has contributed to more than 40 new nursing posts – an incredible achievement which just wouldn’t be possible without funding from significant donors like the National Garden Scheme. It has been an absolute pleasure to see our partnership grow and flourish year on year.

“We’re incredibly grateful to be united with such an innovative organisation. In our 5th year in partnership, we’re looking forward to working together to drive change in health policy, and continue our partnership legacy – improving care for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.”

The National Garden Scheme has teamed up with The National Autistic Society to be the new partner of the National Garden Scheme’s Gardening and Wellbeing Grant.

Alan Gardner, Channel 4’s ‘The Autistic Gardner’ and Cultural Ambassador for The National Autistic Society said; “Horticulture has so much to offer autistic people like me. Working or spending time outside in the tranquil setting of a garden can help to reduce the high anxiety levels which many of us struggle to cope with. The sights and natural smells of a garden can engage our senses without overwhelming us.
“Working closely with young autistic trainees on The Autistic Gardener series showed me how gardening projects can promote team work and boost the confidence of autistic people, who frequently suffer from very low self-esteem.”
Gardening can also play a vital role in strengthening the wellbeing of family members who are supporting an autistic child or adult. It can be a great social activity and help to reduce anxiety.
