Bachie Uchaf, Llanfyllin

Inspiring, colourful hillside country garden. Gravel paths meander around extensive planting and over streams cascading down into ponds. Specimen trees, shrubs, rhododendrons and azaleas and vegetable garden. Enjoy the wonderful views from one of the many seats. Opens Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May.

Cwm Farm, Welshpool

Charming C19 farmhouse down wooded cwm with impressive crag. 5 acre garden in stunning location with panoramic view of Corndon and Roundton Hills. Bluebells, herbaceous beds, Welsh apple orchard, pond, stream, wildflower meadow, wide lawns and paths to wander and places to sit. Opens Sunday 7th May.

Dingle Nurseries & Garden, Welshpool

4½ acre internationally acclaimed RHS partner garden on south facing site, sloping down to lakes. Huge variety of rare and unusual trees, ornamental shrubs and herbaceous plants give year-round interest. Opens Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October.

Glanwye, Builth Wells

Gregynog Hall & Garden, Newtown

Gardens are Grade I Listed due to association with the C18 landscape architect William Emes. Set within 750 acres, a designated National Nature Reserve with SSSI. Parkland with small lake and traces of a water garden. Opens Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May, and Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October.

Hill Cottage, Llandrindod Wells

A peaceful and secluded garden in Llandrindod Wells principally inspired by oriental influences. Paths wind through shady plantings surrounding a lawn, across an attractive carp pond via an oriental style bridge. Opens Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May.

Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant Gardens, Oswestry

The lively village of Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant is set on the edge of the Berwyn Mountains with local shops and beauty spots such as the famous waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr. We have a selection of small village gardens offering a range of styles from cottage, courtyard, terrace and prairie style plantings. Opens Sunday 21st May.

Llwyn Madoc, Llanwrtyd Wells

Terraced garden in attractive wooded valley overlooking lake; yew hedges; rose garden with pergola; azaleas and rhododendrons. Opens Sunday 21st May.

Llysdinam, Newbridge-on-Wye

Llysdinam Gardens are among the loveliest in mid Wales, especially noted for a magnificent display of rhododendrons and azaleas in May. Covering some 6 acres, they command sweeping views down the Wye Valley. opens Sunday 28th May.

Pontsioni House, Builth Wells

With a background of old ruins and steep rocky woodland, this Wye Valley garden with herbaceous, shrub borders, terraces and natural rockery merge with lawns. Small walled vegetable and fruit garden. Opens 7th May and Sunday 4th June.

Rock Mill, Montgomery

A river runs through this magical 3 acre award-winning garden in a beautiful wooded valley. Colourful borders and shrubberies, specimen trees, terraces, woodland walks, bridges, extensive lawns, fishponds, orchard, herb and vegetable beds, beehives, roundhouse, remnants of industrial past (corn mill and railway line) offer much to explore. Bron Hafren, Montgomery

1½ acre mature garden on banks R Severn. Riverside walk with view of ornate Grade II listed bridge. Surrounding the Victorian house are lawns, orchard, mixed borders, shrubbery, raised veg beds, spinney and large redwood. Interesting mature specimen trees, outbuildings inc original Ty Bach. Opens Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June.

Hurdley Hall, Montgomery

Beautiful traditional 2 acre garden in stunning location; herbaceous and mixed borders leading to 18 acres of Coronation Meadows, woodland and orchard. Featured in Country Life in 2022 and Regional Finalist in The English Garden’s Favourite Garden Competition. Opens 11th June and 9th July.

The Hymns, Presteigne

In a beautiful setting in the heart of the Radnor valley, the garden is part of a restored C16 farmstead, with long views to the hills, and The Radnor Forest. It is a traditional garden reclaimed from the wild, using locally grown plants and seeds, and with a herb patio, wildflower meadows and a short woodland walk. Opens Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June.

The Neuadd, Crickhowell

Robin and Philippa Herbert have worked on the restoration of the garden at The Neuadd since 1999 and have planted many unusual trees and shrubs in the dramatic setting of the Brecon Beacons National Park. One of the major features is the walled garden, which has both traditional and decorative planting of fruit, vegetables and flowers. Opens Sunday 4th June.

The Rock House, Llanbister

About an acre of informal mature hillside garden, 1000ft up with views over the Radnorshire Hills. Wildlife ponds, bluebell meadow and a laburnum arch. It is a bit of a battle with nature this high up but we feel after around 30 years of making the garden it has finally settled into the space. Opens 3rd and 4th June.

Tranquility Haven, Knighton

Amazing Japanese inspired garden with borrowed views to Offa’s Dyke. Winding paths pass small pools and lead to Japanese bridges over natural stream with dippers and kingfishers. Sounds of water fill the air. Enjoy peace and tranquillity from one of the seats or the Japanese Tea House. Open on various dates throughout the year.

Tremynfa, Llanymynech

South facing 1 acre garden developed over 15 yrs. Old railway cottage set in herbaceous and raised borders, patio with many pots of colourful and unusual plants. Garden slopes to productive fruit and vegetable area, ponds, spinney, unusual trees, wild areas and peat bog. Opens Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June.

Tyn y Cwm, Llanwrtyd Wells

Garden started 21 years ago, lower garden has spring/woodland area, raised beds mixed with vegetables, fruit trees, fruit and flowers. Perennial borders, summerhouse gravel paths through rose and clematis pergola. Opens Sunday 18th June.

Tyn-y-Graig, Newtown

A garden at 300m with views of surrounding hills, a variety of borders and a hectare of meadow managed for biodiversity. Garden planted to achieve different moods inc a herb area, bright, white and pastel borders, rose garden, farmyard borders, fernery, fruit trees and vegetable beds. Meadow with woodland and large pond. Opens Sunday 25th June.

White Hopton Farm, Newtown

Horticulturist and author Claire Austin’s private 1½ acre plant collector’s garden designed along the lines of a cottage garden with hundreds of different perennials. Front garden mainly full of May blooming perennials, back garden, which is split into various areas. Opens Thursday 8th June.

Berriew Village Gardens, Welshpool

The picturesque village of Berriew is on the Montgomeryshire Canal with the R Rhiew flowing through its heart. Black and white cottages, church, two pubs, shops, William O’Brien artist/blacksmith forge and Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture. Seven very different gardens. Opens Sunday 2nd July.

Bryn Teg, Newtown

Amazing exotic secret Caribbean garden in centre of Newtown planted to remind me of my childhood in Jamaica. An exciting walk through the jungle. High above the head are banana leaves and colourful climbers. Opens Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July.

Crai Gardens, nr Brecon

Set against the backdrop of Fan Gyhirych and Fan Brycheiniog, at 1000 ft above sea level the Crai valley is a hidden gem, off the beaten track between Brecon and Swansea. Those in the know have long enjoyed visiting our serene valley, with its easy access to the hills and its fabulous views. Opens Sunday 23rd July.

Cwm-Weeg, Newtown

2½ acre garden set within 24 acres of wildflower meadows and bluebell woodland with stream centred around C15 farmhouse (open by prior arrangement). Formal garden in English landscape tradition with vistas, grottos, sculptures, stumpery, lawns and extensive borders terraced with stone walls. Opens Sunday 16th July.

1 Glanrafon, Oswestry

1 acre secluded garden under development. As a keen plantsperson, I have been establishing this steeply sloping, densely planted wildlife garden with hundreds of varieties of shrubs and perennials over the past 5 years. Opens Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July.

Lower Wernfigin Barns, Brecon

A terraced south facing garden with dense planting of herbaceous perennials and shrubs. Rear garden planted with hydrangeas, azaleas and rhododendrons. A newly planted area of woodland and field walk. Opens Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July.

The Meadows, Caersws

South facing level garden on village edge, originally The Manse. An eclectic mix of garden areas inc small bog garden with home-made waterfall, shrubs, flowers, vegetables + over100 containers with colourful annuals, veg and perennials. Opens Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July.

Ponthafren, Newtown

Treberfydd House, Brecon

Grade l listed Victorian Gothic house with 10 acres of grounds designed by W A Nesfield. Magnificent Cedar of Lebanon, avenue of mature Beech, towering Atlantic Cedars, Victorian rockery, herbaceous border and manicured lawns ideal for a picnic. Opens Sunday 2nd July.

Vaynor Park, Welshpool

Beautiful C17 house (not open)with 5 acre garden. Spectacular long herbaceous borders at their peak with cardoons, crambe, geraniums, etc, box edged rose parterre, banks of hydrangeas; topiary yew birds, box buttresses and spires bring formality. Opens Sunday 23rd July.

Welsh Lavender, Builth Wells

Jeni Arnold’s stylish wild planting of the steep bank above the ever popular wild swimming pond is a riot of colour best seen in June. Fields of blue lavender peak from mid July to mid August. Opens Friday 21st and 28th July and 4th and 11th August. Pre-booking essential.
