Leading the performance of Mendelssohn’s String Quartet Opus 20, Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks and Franck’s Panis Angelicus is Andrew Bernardi, one of the UK’s leading violinists and festival directors. Joining Andrew will be eight fellow musicians and Royal College of Music alumni soprano Julieth Lozano.
The concert takes place in the 13th century St Mary’s village church which sits alongside the Regency vicarage, followed by a fireworks display viewed from the house terrace. During the interval canapes will be served with Nyetimber English sparkling wine from this West Sussex award winning vineyard.
Founded by Andrew Bernardi in 2000, the annual Shipley Arts Festival brings world class music to communities in and around Shipley through a curated programme of concerts and events.
Regularly open for the National Garden Scheme throughout the year, The Old Vicarage is always a popular choice for visitors to the garden which variously includes formal topiaries, contemporary water sculpture, a Japanese garden with waterfall and ponds, a large copse with tree house and stumpery.
Church doors will open at 6.45pm for the concert at 7pm, with fireworks at 9pm.
