The Hidden Garden is a community gardening project encouraging local people to become involved with growing fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers as well as providing spaces for wildlife to thrive. The garden is open to people of all ages and abilities organised by the Selsey Community Forum but looked after by a dedicated group of local volunteers. Opens Sunday 30th July.
Created from scratch by the owners over the past 24 yrs, this is a plant lover’s garden with curved borders featuring unusual shrubs, trees with interesting bark, roses, climbers and perennials. Hostas in pots are displayed in many places. The vegetable and cutting area feature a large raised bed, a greenhouse and a hanging potting bench. Opens Saturday 10th June.
A beautiful medium sized cottage garden with something of interest all year-round. The garden has several mature trees creating a feeling of seclusion. The cottage style small garden has evolved into a series of island beds with narrow paths in between. There are roses, clematis, many salvias and perennials. A collection of over 100 pots, many planted with hydrangeas, but the majority are a colourful mix of annuals and tender plants. Opens Wednesday 21st and 28th June with Nightingale House.

Come and explore the varied gardens surrounding a beautiful Georgian flint house (not open), approached by a chestnut avenue. The flint walled garden has a mature 160ft herbaceous border with unusual planting along with rose, hellebore and hydrangea beds. Pool garden with exotic palms and grasses divided from a formal knot and herb garden by espalier apples. Opens Sunday 18th June.
Set in the middle of a working dairy farm, the garden has evolved over the last 30 yrs. Taking advantage of its sunny position on free draining greensand, the borders are full of sun loving plants and grasses with a more formal area surrounding the farmhouse (not open). Opens Thursday 20th and Sunday 23rd July with Cumberland House.
Set in 6 acres on the edge of the South Downs National Park surrounded by NT woodland, this rural garden was started in 2012 when a new Huf house was built on a derelict site. Now there are lawned areas with beds of perennials, a serenity pool with koi carp, a wildflower meadow, a Japanese garden, a sculpture garden, a woodland walk, a large rockery and an exotic walled garden. Opens 2nd July, 6th August and 27th August, pre-booking essential.
Nestled at the foot of the South Downs within a landscaped park, Wiston House has a Victorian garden under restoration. Features inc a conservatory, terraced lawns with herbaceous borders, a cascade, woodland garden, Italian parterre, wildflower garden, walled vegetable garden and Victorian greenhouses. Opens Saturday 1st July.
