About Higher Crossings

When we bought Higher Crossings over 30 years ago the 2 acre garden was overgrown and somewhat neglected. Much of the original hard landscaping remains from the 1930s but we have made many additions and changes. We have relocated the impressive original stone troughs brought form the old Horse Fair in Chapel to stand as prominent and striking features on the terrace. The garden’s clear structure, long established, lends a formality to the planting, which is further enhanced by the topiary, statues, clipped box, wide lawns and stone staircases which descend gracefully from the elegant terrace. This is a secluded space completely sheltered from the adjacent road yet from the terrace there are magnificent 180 degree views across the valley to the hills beyond.
