About The Oast House
Traditional country garden with large croquet lawn, borders, old brick walls, courtyard garden, beds, rambling roses, vines, topiary and mature trees including a 35 year old ginko. Approximately one and a half acres. There are good views of the Grade II* manor house New Place and some view of the spire of our Grade I church. The Oast House itself is a building of local interest and attracts occasional parties of visitors. The plantings are amateur however as the pictures will show the garden is nicely matured.
The whole garden is level and accessible to wheelchair users however there are gravel areas which may not be suitable. We border country fields and have seen in our garden all the following: common garden lizards, deer, barger, foxes, hedgehogs, pheasants, woodpeckers, many common garden birds and one grass snake laid a very large number of eggs in the compost fortunately they have gone! Over the past few years, we have encouraged garden birds with copious feeding and have installed nest boxes.
