The Old Vicarage

1½ acres of formal sloping garden around Victorian house. Sit on the terrace or in the summerhouse to enjoy home-made cakes and tea amongst mature trees, relaxed herbaceous borders, roses and a small pond. Move to the organic vegetable garden with raised beds, fruit cage and very big compost heaps! In complete contrast, easy walk around the natural setting of a 2 acre reclaimed lake planted with native species designed to attract wildlife. Waterfall, jetty, fishing hut, acer and fern glade plus arboretum provide more interest.

About The Old Vicarage

Transferred to private ownership exactly a century later, the garden project has been ongoing from the cow grazing pasture and rhododendrons we inherited. Post retirement and pursuing our lifetime interest in wildlife and sustainability, the garden and marl pit have been developed extensively to provide an attractive and accessible environment with all year interest.

Children will enjoy meeting the chickens and horses. A garden of contrasts, with easy formality around the Victorian house and the accent on very natural planting around the lake, managed for wildlife and sustainability.
