About 115 Dartmouth Ave
We moved here 2021 from across the road. The garden had a few original shrubs and climbers which we have kept but was quite empty of life, including birds. There were 3 greenhouses originally, one having coal fired heating and 2 coal bunkers! We were able to bring a number of plants from our old house – over 90! Over the 3 years we have dug out beds, removed an old shed and one of the greenhouses, taken out the heating from the largest of the greenhouses. We have planted trees and a small hawthorn hedge to encourage wild life, put in a pond for frogs. At the bottom of the garden we have planted fruit trees and bushes, strawberries and rhubarb. We use the smaller of the greenhouses for overwintering and in the spring for tomatoes & cucumbers. We have 8 water butts around the greenhouses and having the room have set up a compost area. From the patio there are 3 gates each with a step down that lead into the garden. 1 onto brick path, 1 onto grass and 1 onto a gravel path. the garden is then level. Our aim is for a long season of colour and interest.
