About 12 Keepers Wood
This delightful North facing triangular garden sits between tall trees to the East and open agricultural land offering views towards the ancient forests of Kingley Vale to the West. The garden was redesigned in 2017 to showcase its position between the wooded residential area at the Northern outskirts of the city and the open wildlife corridor locally known as the Daffodil field or Lavant Gap. Deer are frequent and welcome garden visitors despite their at times insatiable appetite for fresh shoots and newly emerging flowers.
It is a garden of different moods. Upon arrival and anchored in the vernacular of suburbia, a sea of Annabelle hydrangeas greets the visitor in front of the cottage-style house. After passing the garden gate the mood changes: a majestic oak, a Buddha in need of a haircut, a 90ft long Piet Oudolf inspired prairie border providing the transition to the open field, a willow tipi for the grandchildren, a newt-teaming pond, and a fern-packed woodland border linking the garden to the tall trees in the East invite you for a wander. And if you are lucky the deer will have left some flowers in the cur flower garden for you to enjoy.
