About 2 Brookside

Brookside is mid-way between Whalley and Ribchester, 3 miles from each, and on the number 25 bus route from Blackburn to Clitheroe. Whalley is home to a historic Cistercian Abbey, now active as a retreat and spirituality centre. Next door to the garden is the 16th century St Leonard’s church, a designated grade 1 listed building, overseen by the Churches Conservation trust. The key to the church is available from the Black Bull public house, adjacent to the church. The garden provides the space and serenity for rest and recuperation, with a small area designed to facilitate prayer and meditation. The River Ribble is about a mile away, accessible by public footpaths.
