About 28 Stafford Road

The front garden has been recently planted after clearing large overgrown areas – most of the plants were propagated or divided from existing plants from the rear of the house.
The area is dominated by an island where a very large Paulownia tomentosa towers above the garden. Recent additions include two Gunnera cryptica (giant rhubarb) which should reach a good size by 2024 and some rare Borinda bamboos

A large, old oak tree at the side of the house provides a canopy under which our chickens live, next to the greenhouse and there are also some very mature bamboo plants in this area

The rear of the house consists of a large lawn surrounded by large raised beds and several raised island beds.
There are several large bamboo plants, some of which are over ten years old, including a magnificent Borinda papyrifera, the much sought-after blue bamboo.
There are several palm trees around the garden and mature clumps of the hardy banana, Musa Basjoo, lots of Tetrapanax, along with several types of hardy Schefflera
Foliage dominates the garden, with Colocasia and begonias providing a lush green carpet from spring onwards
Do not be surprised to hear parakeets whilst in the garden as there is an ever increasing population in the area!
