About 48 Parc Hafod
Previously a neglected rental property. My partner and I took over the property 5 years ago. After renovating the interior we started on the garden. The garden comprised of a rather sad, uneven weed worn lawn with no plants. The garden was stripped back and the rubble and old fences removed. After we levelled the ground, railway sleepers were used to create flower beds and a new lawn laid.
Our first trip to our local garden centres we purchased 4 small standard trees to add some height. They were: Robina pseudoacacia ‘Umbraculifera’ – Twisty Baby, Larix decidua ‘Pendula’, Photinia Red Robin, Prunus incisa -Kojo-No-Mai – Fuji Cherry. We then in filled with a range of climbing plants including roses and clematis together with mixed perennials. We do not
really have a set planting scheme but choose plants which take our eye. Some have self seeded from our neighbours’ gardens.
We added a water feature last year which brings a lovely sound to the garden.
Our garden continues to be a work in progress adding new plants each year.
