5 Crib Lane

A challenging garden as on a high terraced hillside on tip site. Visited by deer, hares and the odd cow! One elderly gardener. An example of an ordinary family Pennine garden. Of additional interest are wildlife ponds, wildflower areas, a polytunnel, four beehives with 250,000 bees, an art gallery and garden sculptures. Areas re thought annually, dug up and changed.

About 5 Crib Lane

A changing garden over 30+ years depending on family needs. Managed by two OAP’s, one who does the mowing and strimming and one who loves flowers especially scented ones and textures and shapes of plants and trees within the landscape and who gardens with wildlife in mind. Super challenging due to stony ground, height and weather and the garden being on a tip site!!. The garden is always in a state of being changed and plants added and moved to create different colour and shape themes as well as new tastes. The garden provides a place of fun for parties and BBQ’s, a home to many species of birds and other wildlife and a lot of work for the 2 to keep trying to achieve the above aims. Some areas are wild in the summer as have snowdrops, English bluebells and narcissi in them – obviously flowering earlier.

In 2015 we erected the ‘Gallery in the Garden’ – owner artist Helen Campbell’s work – a range of media and styles with a range of prices to suit most pockets. There are also stone sculptures around the garden and local honey for sale in the gallery.
2022 saw a change from the highest terrace previously used as a vegetable garden to the start of a woodland but very much in its infancy so not much to see as yet -come back in 20 years!!

Local honey, cards and art work for sale.
