About Ashley Court
Ashley Court is a small Regency country house with an historically interesting walled kitchen garden currently undergoing restoration. The garden is unusually situated on a deep valley and has a frost window and the remains of several glass houses and cold frames. We are managing the garden completely organically and gradually restoring and re-planting it with both new and heritage varieties of fruit and vegetables. You can see the remains of some very ancient espalier apple and pear trees and view the apple loft, root stores, stable buildings, woodland walk and lawns, borders and beautiful mature trees. It is a work in progress and most of it is undertaken on a voluntary basis, we welcome help at any time of year!
The walled garden probably pre-dates the 1805 house as there was previously an older Ashley Court on the other side of the garden. Peculiar features such as a curved garden wall and a frost window make it unusual.
