Blackmore House

A hidden terraced cottage garden with dry stone walls and gravel paths, designed for year-round interest complementing the Georgian listed house. Wide borders packed full of perennials and self-seeded surprises. In winter there are 2 intensely scented 10ft daphnes, sarcocca, hellebores popping up everywhere, a few snowdrops and early daffodils all inviting you outside while most gardens sleep.

About Blackmore House

February is my favourite month in the garden giving most joy. The previous owner designed and planted an amazing array of year-round interest. She said: ‘you’ll be amazed what comes up’ and after six years here I still am! In the last two years I’ve made it my own with rose beds and fruit trees, – not perfect, a bit eclectic but full of interest. Slow worms and hedgehogs keep the slugs and snails at bay when it gets warmer and our resident house sparrows keep the roses free of greenflies. Even in February on sunny days the garden is filled with honeybees from neighbouring hives and four varieties of bumblebee. Do check my Instagram, page for photos of my garden and recent projects.
