About Cherry Cottage

This south facing garden of approximately 1/2 acre has been described by some as being quite ‘Monty Don ish’. Wander along the many paths and feel immersed in the plants. It is an unmanicured garden which has developed over the past few years in a cottage garden style and is very untypical of a back garden in a residential road. The plants, mainly shrubs and perennials, are varied with many chosen for colour and scent to suit the range of challenging conditions; wet, heavy clay, tree and hedge roots, sun and shade, a frost pocket and years of neglected bindweed and couch grass. There is always something in flower and the garden includes a rose bed, a Cornus bank, old apple trees, ferns, primulas, alpine sinks and a pond that attracts plenty of wildlife.
