About Church Cottage

On the edge of a rural village across from a pretty church with medieval wall paintings, is this plant packed cottage garden. There are lawned areas and mixed borders which in early summer are full of colour from large drifts of alliums.
A yew allee with a giant walnut tree overlooks farmland. Beside the informal wildlife pond is a shepherd’s hut and ‘New Wave’ beds of grasses and perennials underplanted with bulbs. There is a small woodland garden and a sheltered gravel area. Lots of planted containers fill the patio around the cottage along with two small alpine beds.
There is a kitchen garden with two greenhouses and raised beds for vegetables and flowers for cutting.

The garden has been featured in The English Garden (May 2023) and Country Living Magazine (May 2024).
