East Haddon Gardens

The pretty village of East Haddon dates back to the Norman invasion. The oldest surviving building is St Mary's, a C12 church. The village features many thatched cottages built from the local honey-coloured ironstone. A thatched village pump and former fire station, once housing a hand drawn pump, now serving as the bus shelter. The nine gardens opening this year are a mixture of small to medium sized mature gardens, some offering beautiful views across rolling hills. They are bursting with rare and unusual plants, a variety of shrubs, climbers, roses, and perennials, along with borders, vegetable beds, espaliered fruit trees, and woodland areas. Tickets and refreshments will be available at the church. Plants propagated from the gardens and raised from seed, inc some rarities, will be on sale at Limetrees.
