Fairbank

The planting in this large garden reflects our interest in trees, shrubs, fruit and vegetables. A wide variety of herbaceous plants provide colour and are placed in sweeping mixed borders that carry the eye down the long garden to the orchard and beyond. Near the house (not open) there are rose beds and herbaceous borders, as well as a small formal pond.

About Fairbank

The garden was a retirement project on approx. 2 acres of rough ground, stretching about 300 yards. The garden has evolved, rather than being carefully planned. The two large ponds were already here, otherwise there was little of horticultural interest, apart from a fastigiate copper beech, a Magnolia grandiflora and some Zelkovas on the garden boundaries.

The range of trees and shrubs is extensive, with interesting and beautiful examples which, after 19 years, are maturing. Herbaceous borders, roses and mixed plantings abound. Sweeping beds lead both eyes and feet to new delights.
