About Hawthorne Cottage

in addition to the main garden and lawns , Hawthorne Cottage has an allotment area of raised beds running across the bottom of the garden with a greenhouse, and a shed with a shelter for viewing. In the allotment area we have a number of fruit bushes along with beds of root vegetables, onions and garlic. Squash of various kinds are also grown , some trailing over arches and other supports. Potatoes are usually grown in tubs alongside more squash etc.
The garden has mainly level access, with few steps, the allotment area has slate chippings which provide a firm walking surface. There are two steps to the upper orchard area and side lawn, and one step down to one part of the allotment area.
