Haytor Gardens

Haytor Gardens offers two very different gardens on the edge of Dartmoor with views across to Torbay and the Teign estuary. The one acre garden at Brambly Wood has been developed over the past 40 yrs with packed herbaceous borders, a pond and extensive planting of rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias looking their best in spring with tranquil seating areas throughout the garden. Visitors are also welcome to view the owners' studios showing artisan pottery and textile work. The ¼ acre garden at Haytor House was designed along more classical lines as a project for horticultural students in the 1930s and provides distinctive planting within partitioned areas. An inner walled garden with a folly leads to three further distinctive garden 'rooms' with a lily pond, raised beds, mixed herbaceous borders and large shrubs and acers among its many features.
