Opened in April 2025, it supports people with spinal injury, their visitors, and NHS staff. Designed by Harris Bugg Studio, the garden is inspired by the history, geography and industry of Yorkshire. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the naturalistic planting.

About Horatio's Garden Sheffield & East

Horatio’s Garden Sheffield & East opened at the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield in April 2025 where it now provides people with spinal injury with a calm place for reflection, adjustment, privacy and companionship.

Designed by Charlotte Harris and Hugo Bugg from Harris Bugg Studio, Horatio’s Garden Sheffield & East is inspired by the local area, including a water feature made from historic Sheffield cutlery casts and stone cairns built by fifth-generation master stone wallers. A large garden room and garden pod offer a cocooning, warm and welcoming space for shelter and privacy. Layered and sensory planting allows interaction from various vantage points. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the naturalistic planting, set against the backdrop of local woodland.
