About Hotel Endsleigh
An outstanding example of a Repton-designed garden on the banks of the River Tamar. The gardens include formal borders, a picturesque Dell with pleasure dairy and rockery plus an Arboretum.
The formal gardens have the Long Border, a grass terrace, croquet lawn and a unique Shell House, a 100m rose arch, yew walk and newly discovered small waterfall.
The Dell includes the original pleasure dairy where the Duchess made butter for fun. The stream is lined with huge gunnera and bamboos collected for the Duke.
The Arboretum was originally planted by the 7th Duke of Bedford and today includes some wonderful specimen/Champion Trees newly listed on the revised garden guide.
Some parts of the garden include many steps and inclines and may not be suitable for the less sure-footed.
