About Malthouse Farm

A quintessential country garden, the plot extends over some 5 acres and yet manages to convey a constant and reassuring sense of intimacy because of its arrangement as a series of garden rooms leading one from another, each different but with a consistency in the relaxed style of mixed planting that offers interest throughout the season, especially good in the late summer.
From the box parterre to herbaceous, shrub and mixed borders, the kitchen garden and orchard with wild flowers, there is a balance between tradition and adventurous plant combinations. Glass sculptures, a snail mound, birch maze and willow tunnel are unexpected and nice quirky additions.

Last but not least. the one constant throughout the garden – uplifting views past the farm gate to the undulating South Downs in the distance.

This garden opens for By Arrangement visits from April to September for groups of between 10 and 40.
