About Meadowgate

A colourful and tranquil medium size garden set on 2 levels. A large patio surrounded by planting borders for both sunny and shady conditions. Steps flanked by herbaceous borders and clipped topiary Yew lead up to the lawn, and island beds filled with ornamental grasses and tall perennials. The planting design features year-round interest with bee and bird friendly plants.

Seating areas have been designed to make the most of both sunny and shady areas. A 2nd patio at the back features a pond and water feature, providing the soothing sound of water. This is visited by frogs and newts, with wildlife shelters and log piles dotted in the surrounding borders. The pond is also a magnet for birds on hot sunny days. A small vegetable bed near the work and compost area captures the sun. Gardened organically, and using home-produced compost and chopped leaf mulch. Once a play space for 3 active boys (with a trampoline, swings, football goal, table-tennis, sandpit, and chalk-drawn roads for bikes) this garden has finally been re-claimed by its patient garden designer owner, and filled with plants! Before and after photos and garden plan will be available to view on the open days.
