Meadowside

Designed to encourage wildlife, the formal areas are gradually being adapted. In the back garden, annual wild flowers have replaced box hedging, erigeron and chamomile have been allowed to self-seed between brick paths and paving; part of the lawn has become a wildflower area. A summerhouse looks out onto the fish pond and the deck has views over the wildlife areas and woodland beyond.

About Meadowside

The more formal front garden has a raised lawn bordered by hedging, interesting shrubs and trees. A narrow side path leads to the back garden. Here, shrub and flower borders contain acers, hydrangea, camellias, geraniums, hostas, heuchera and ferns. A laughing Budda sits happily amongst the plants and many pots line the terraces and paths. Annual wild flowers, erigeron and chamomile spill out onto the paths and lawn.

The garden is divided from the wild areas and woodland by an ornate fence. Through the gate, mown paths lead you around the wild area to a wide strip of protected soft wood trees. To one side is a line of protected mature oak trees dividing Meadowside from neighbouring woodland. On the other boundary there are recently planted rambling roses and climbing hydrangeas.
