About Rode Hall
Rode Hall Gardens were created by three notable landscape designers; Humphry Repton drew up the plans for the landscape and Rode Pool in his ‘Red Book’ of 1790. Between 1800 and 1810 John Webb, a Cheshire landscapist, constructed the Pool, an artificial lake of approximately 40 acres and at the same time he created the terraced rock garden and grotto. This area is carpeted in snowdrops in February followed by daffodils and bluebells and colour continues with the flowering of many specie and hybrid rhododendrons and azaleas in May. In 1860 William Nesfield designed the rose garden and terrace where the flowerbeds are now filled with roses and a variety of herbaceous plants. The two-acre walled kitchen garden dates from 1750 and grows a wide variety of flowers, vegetables and fruit and there is also an Italian garden in the ruins of the old Tenants Hall.
Very popular monthly farmers’ market (first Sat of each month exc Jan) & delightful courtyard kitchen serving lunches, homemade cakes, & refreshments.
