About Rosewood
A garden starting to flower with thousands of snowdrops in February accompanied and succeeded by many winter and spring flowering camellias. Several of these, including large C. saluenensis have been grown from seed in the garden. Rhododendron species flower throughout April and May including Rh. maddenii and the spectacular Rh. dalhousiae var. rhabdotum in late May/June. Cornus kousa chinensis is out in May and is succeeded by two large Cornus capitata with yellow bracts in June. Magnolias, including M.campbellii, laevifolia, mollicomata ‘Lanarth’, wilsonii and a number of home grown varieties are in flower from March through to June. These are accompanied in spring and early summer by a wide range of companion plants including Cardiocrinum, Nomocharis and Podophyllum. In August and September hundreds of Cyclamen hederifolium are in flower and are followed at very unpredictable times by a collection of autumn flowering camellias including sasanqua and oleifera varieties. Almost all the above have been seed grown on site. Spare seedlings, some of good size are available for sale.
