Shellfield Gardens

Three adjacent C19 'Shrimpers' Cottages' which existed before the establishment of Shellfield Road, opposite what became the lifeboat station. The sea is now some distance away! 3 different front gardens for Bluebell, Rainbow and Anbil cottages provide no clue to the rear gardens, again all are very different; 2 are established over 20 yrs, one in the last 2 yrs, yet all provide interest and inspiration in showing how similar sized plots can be landscaped and utilised.

About Shellfield Gardens

This type of white cottage is unique to the Churchtown/Marshside area in the north of Southport and many of the earlier inhabitants were fishermen

The three gardens, or more exactly six (front and rear) are examples of utilising available space effectively and differently. Each has a significant atmosphere that reflects the attention of those who have developed them.
