About Sinclair with The Snug
Sinclair is at heart, a wildlife friendly garden. It’s peaceful setting is at the rear of the house.
Some formal flowerbeds but mostly informal planting, making it a haven for wildlife, especially bumblebees. Dragonflies, frogs and newts use the small pond, and the lawn is perfect for many birds especially woodpeckers, who feed on the ants.
The changes in ground level throughout the garden, help to create various connected themed areas …. a Moroccan patio, seaside summerhouse, Mallorcan/Greek patio, and a Provencal patio with grapevine covered pergola that features lavender and a village scene mural.
This pollinator friendly garden is shared with bumblebees and hoverflies on the masses of marjoram flowers, and the butterflies enjoy feeding on the many different buddleia, Buddleia alternifolia, buddleia Buzz ‘Velvet’, and davidii in many shades. A deep purple shade of buddleia davidii that self-seeded in the garden, by the roadside, has been propagated by the owner, and named ‘Highway Star’.
There are small vegetable and fruit beds. There’s also horseradish which came from great aunt Alice’s garden and a white garden bench which once stood at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Many small trees are dotted around the garden, including a mature ‘Conference’ pear, ‘English Golden Delicious’ apple, hazel, corkscrew willow, rowans, and cherries. There are also many acers including a large acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’.
Beyond the garden there are mature trees in woodlands, and there are views of both churches St.Joseph’s and St.John’s.
