About The Gate House
For many years this was the house of the village doctor and you can still see the stables where he kept his pony and trap, transport for his rounds. Surrounded by mellow brick walls, the garden is a sheltered hidden garden in the heart of the village. An old apple tree and spring bulbs make a pretty picture and aubrietia, anthemis and alyssum scramble over the paving. A recent extension to the garden, named after a favourite Labrador, has fruit trees, vegetables and flowers packed in either side of a sinuous grass path. Quirky statuary, including Myrtle, who sports living green hair, adds an extra dimension.
