About The Old Vicarage
Front Garden
The front garden, overlooked by the church of St Mary, has a large curving lawn with gravel paths through deep mixed borders, planted with trees, shrubs and perennials.
A gravel drive leads to recently converted stable block.
Back Garden
The back garden close to the house consists of a large gravel terrace with formal box parterre, planted with Rosa ‘Natasha Richardson’, and Lavendula angustifolia, a long border with Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low’ and roses. The curved lawn resembles the meanders of the river Wey with herbaceous borders, multi- stemmed Amelanchier, ornamental Pyrus calleryana ‘Chanticleer’ and Pyrus salicifolia ‘Pendula’.
Side Garden
Connecting the two gardens, a limestone terrace overlooks the pond and the River Wey. A long 30 metre border of herbaceous perennials, shrubs and trees extend along the top
of the grassy slope which leads down to the water meadows and pond.
Further afield
At the bottom of the slope, the garden becomes grassy parkland with mature trees, water meadows with mown paths through the grass and a large pond.
The furthest field borders a small woodland and has self- seeded saplings.
