Upper Mill Gardens

Six nature loving neighbours welcome you into their individually unique gardens in the leafy, semi-rural, unadopted lane that is Upper Mill. The Dulais flows alongside the woodland edge bringing diversity of wildlife and a temperate climate to the historic neighbourhood once busy with woollen mills and blacksmiths. Today the sounds of the river and birdsong complement our colourful spaces.

About Upper Mill Gardens

Ty’r Nant: A haven of peace and tranquility surrounds the bungalow with blooms of alpines, spring bulbs and shrubs loved by nesting birds. A goldfish pond and hidden patios provide space to relax and breathe. Tickets for sale here.

1 Upper Mill: Azaleas and Rhododendrons provide a riot of colour amongst which coffee and cake will be served. A formal, professionally designed Welsh country garden surrounded by trees and roses.

2 Upper Mill: Hidden rooms and winding paths make this secret garden magical, with surprises around every corner. Wander through the dappled shade and wonder at the diversity of birds and butterflies.

3 Upper Mill: A plantaholics’ cottage garden at the woodland edge. Birds and bees, dragonflies and hedgehogs all enjoy this oriental inspired hideaway. Stained glass artists’ studio open for interest.

Longsight: Walk mindfully around this recently established garden specifically for wildlife and nature. Never mind the dandelions, the bees love them. Organic and sustainable growing of fruit and vegetables complements the diversity of wildlife in the ponds and long grass. Short meditation sessions will take place if you’d like to join in.

Cartref: This easy maintenance garden nestles at the foot of Cefn Drum, with views of sheep and horses from the rear. The gentle, lush green terraces overflow with sculptural plants whilst the formal rill, blessed with pond lilies and dragonflies, leads your eye to a cosy summerhouse.
