Walnut Tree Cottage

A traditional cottage garden framed by wonderful views over the Essex countryside and planted with well-stocked flower borders and lawns that slope gently down to a natural pond. A productive garden borders the well maintained paddock where chickens and guinea fowl roam. Large patio and other seating areas provide a place to relax and appreciate the garden.

About Walnut Tree Cottage

The thatched Walnut Tree Cottage provides the ideal backdrop to this traditional cottage garden. Flower borders and lawns slope gently down to a large natural pond with views over the Essex countryside. A wide variety of colourful and scented plants surround the cottage and there is a small gravel garden to side of the cottage. New planting surrounds the area around the pond and the owner is establishing a variety of pond plants and lilies in the pond. The garden reaches its peak in June.

A well-tended small vegetable plot is in the paddock. Chickens and guinea fowl roam the paddock and the owner is trying to develop a wild flower area. A vintage car will be on display on the open days.

Teas and refreshments will be served on the patio and there are other seating areas around the garden to sit and enjoy the views. Most areas of the garden have wheelchair access and there is plenty of parking in the paddock area.

B1417 brings you into Felsted from both ends of the village then turn into Causeway End Rd, ½m down the road you will see a yellow sign on your L to turn R into the paddock.

Visit by Arrangement

This garden opens for By Arrangement visits from April to 1 October for groups of between 6 and 12.
