1 The Dairy, Hurst Court

Developed over the last 17 years from a muddy ¼ acre patch attached to a barn conversion, the garden now contains a large Japanese Koi Carp pond, goldfish pond and a stream with planting having a Japanese connection viewed from winding paths. With many rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas combined with cloud pruning and a variety of other plants, an air of peace pervades the garden.

About 1 The Dairy, Hurst Court

We now have a large Japanese koi carp pond and a smaller goldfish pond. We based most of our garden around plants that have a Japanese connection. We have over 100 rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas.
We have six ilex cloud trees of various sizes and I love buxus, so we have a clipped spherical theme running throughout the garden. We both love acers so we have a variety of them throughout the garden. We have a lawn bordered by gravel paths, most of our planting is within the gravel paths that run around the garden. We have a pagoda and a sunken circular patio which we use for eating and seating respectively.
We have a steep banking to one side of our garden that has a staircase down to our woodland natural garden where we have started to develop with dry stone walls, rhododendrons, acers and other woodland plants. We are trying to keep this area as natural as possible.
We encourage wildlife in to our garden, especially hedgehogs so their needs are also incorporated.
