About 10 Paget Rise
Having had a previous garden featured in Gardeners’ World Magazine and opened for the NGS, this garden has a strong Japanese influence with Pagoda. Rhododendrons, many evergreens and a wide range of flowering shrubs. A particular feature is the many bonsai-style Acer trees (currently numbering 30), being grown in shallow bowls occupying a substantial central gravel area with stepping stones. The patio has a red dragon-style pergola with clematis plants. Wide steps decked with colourful plants in pots gives access to an upper block-paved pathway. The path is lined with mature shrubs in pots and leads to the rear of the garden, which has a woodland feel with a fairy dell under the pine tree. There are two small water features in the garden that add another dimension to the ambiance and seating is available to enjoy refreshments. This is not a large garden, but visitors have described it as an unexpectedly surprising gem of a garden. Arthur hopes visitors will be inspired to take away dreams and ideas to use in their own garden!
