About 146 Mather Avenue
A small square town garden to the rear of a 1930s semi surrounding with tall conifer hedges. A large log pile in the sunless corner is left to attract insects, as are the nettles which are allowed to grow along the back wall. The border immediately in front of this area is a jumble of flowers, some wild such as feverfew and valerian, which are left to self seed. Other borders around the garden are (probably) over-filled with perennials, mainly in pinks and blues. Only the ‘hot’ corner farthest from view of the kitchen window is planted with bright reds, oranges and yellows. Paving stepping stones give access through the planting. One large pond contains waterlilies and fish: the smaller is left to weed over for the frogs.
