3 Oakhampton Road

Beginning in March 2016 the plan was to create a garden with a decidedly tropical feel to inc palms from around the world, with tree ferns, bananas and many other strange and unusual plants from warmer climes that would normally be considered difficult to grow here as well as a pond and small waterfall. Not a large garden but you’ll be surprised what can be done with a small space.

About 3 Oakhampton Road

We moved to Oakhampton in Feb 2016, and started work upon the garden in March. The garden which was mainly lawns with a few mature trees and shrubs was ripe for remodelling. We began by excavating two pools linked via a large waterfall. Our plan was to put together a garden with a decidedly tropical feel, that would include lots of palms from around the world, together with tree ferns, bananas, and as many other strange, and unusual plants from warmer climes that would normally be considered difficult to grow here. We want to encourage as much wildlife into the garden as possible, so avoid harmful chemicals, and like to plant as many flowers that will be beneficial to bees and butterflies as possible, which in turn has encouraged many species of birds, together with amphibians, bats, and also quite a few hedgehogs.

We have a passion for plants, especially exotics and would like to share that passion with many others!

Our garden appeared on Gardeners World in 2020, was featured in 2019 online, in papers, on radio and was featured as the backdrop of Hozelock UK 2020 product brochure.
