About 78 Hilton Road
Other aspects of the garden include a series of connected ponds, starting on the top level with a pond for water plants. A waterfall from this pond falls into a long rill, which empties into a large pond inhabited by mature koi. There are three seating areas which capture the sun at different times of the day and a contemporary garden room gives the opportunity to sit and view the garden in all seasons.
The planting scheme is less formal than the hard landscaping. There are a few themes running through the garden with contrasting foliage being seen throughout; bright greens, yellows, purples, white and bronzes, create eye-popping effects at various points in the season.
Two sides of the garden are in shade, and this provides an opportunity to create flat beds with a number of different shade-loving plants, such as hostas, ferns and acers. Acers of many types and sizes are a theme throughout the garden, providing great leaf colour in spring and autumn.
Large architectural plants, such as Phormiums and Yuccas form features in several of the beds, and there are a number of well-established palms in pots, in the garden, the front garden, and on the veranda. The broad variety of plants throughout will ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
