About Badgworth Court Barn
The owners moved to these old stone barns three years ago, having opened their previous gardens for the NGS. They’re now creatively adapting the gardens here that wrap around the refurbished barn buildings.
A small ornamental orchard leads into a colourful and contemporary part walled garden, where a perennial meadow with multi-stemmed trees and gently curved beds are flanked by a more formal oak pergola walk. The planting throughout is a relaxed mix of roses, perennials, annuals and shrubs.
The secluded courtyard design by plantsman Helen Johnson was established when the barns were first refurbished, and she’s now taking the front section of the garden into a new future, experimenting with a sand garden of perennials and native grasses.
