About Berghersh Place

Approached across hay fields, a variety of old farm buildings and brick walls at this former mixed farm provide the backdrop for climbing roses, wisteria and mixed shrubs. Lawns, mature trees and formal yew, hornbeam and box hedges surround the Regency house. The south facing formal facade overlooks grassland from an elevated position with a view of the Fynn valley. Roses and a variety of perennials drift among clipped shrubs and winding grass paths in the loosely planted family garden at the back of the house. Perennials are selected as pollinator friendly. There are three farm ponds, a ditch and bog area and a shaded woodland area. About three thousand trees have been planted around the farm since the garden was started 30 years ago. There is a 20 minute circular woodland walk for those who wish to walk their dogs on the open day.
