About Blackbury Honey Farm
Roses and their companion Salvias are planted together in their own bed and many roses can also be seen in beds and on trellis throughout the garden. The long Winter/Spring border presents a huge variety of shrubs, small trees, shade loving perennials and bulbs. The nearby herb garden is based on the hexagonal shape used by honeybees and there is an ornamental cottage hive at the centre. Soft fruit is grown for use in the tearoom. There is a large orchard; extensive varieties of apples and pears all propagated by the owners. Apricots and peaches grow and fruit prolifically against the barn walls. Paths are cut through the meadow enabling visitors to wander along and look at the wildflowers, including clover, vetches, and early purple orchids, up close. Perhaps take a photograph or two. Larks nest here and you may see them rise, singing, into the sky. Honeybees in their enclosure at the centre of the meadow, are here to pollinate our garden plants and to help the students on our beekeeping courses to understand honeybee husbandry.
A tranquil garden, full of glorious sights and scents. Come and be part of this special place.
