About Bretherton Gardens
A group of contrasting gardens spaced across an attractive award-winning village with a conservation area. Hazel Cottage’s former Victorian orchard plot has evolved into a series of themed spaces while the adjoining land has a natural pond, meadow and developing native woodland. Owl Barn has herbaceous borders filled with cottage garden and hardy plants, a productive kitchen garden with fruit, vegetables and cut flowers. There are two ponds with water features and secluded seating areas. Palatine is a garden of 3 contrasting spaces started in 2019 around a modern bungalow to attract wildlife and give year-round interest. In the same cul-de-sac, Laneside is a mature garden with specimen trees and shrubs, a Woodland Walk, Rose garden, perennial borders and a raised bed for dahlias. The compact front garden has a pink and purple theme.
