About Brierley Farm
The garden is on a south west facing slope leading down to a bridge crossing the stream into the woodland. The high water table for much of the year feeds the three linked ponds draining into the stream. There is an emphasis on the green structure to ensure continuity throughout the seasons. Raised stone-walled beds feature bulbs, hellebores, primulas, euphorbias etc in the spring followed by candelabra primulas, irises, alliums, tulips, geums, rhododendron and deciduous azaleas in May/June. Roses, crocosmia, phlox, dahlias and other seasonal perennial and annual flowering plants take over into the autumn. The woodland is at its best in the spring, with celandine, daffodils and wood anemone followed by bluebells, wild garlic and rhododendron.
