About Brierley Farm
The garden is on a south west facing slope leading down to a bridge crossing the Smalleybrook stream into the woodland. The high water table for much of the year feeds the three linked ponds draining into the stream. Raised stone-walled beds feature bulbs, hellebores, primulas, euphorbias etc in the spring followed by candelabra primulas, irises, alliums, tulips, geums, rhododendron and deciduous azaleas in May/June. Roses, crocosmia, phlox, dahlias, lilies and other seasonal perennial and annual flowering plants take over into the autumn. The woodland is at its best in the spring, with celandine, daffodils and wood anemone followed by bluebells, wild garlic and rhododendron.
