About Brierley Farm
This five acre site features a 2 acre garden and lawns and 3 acre woodland with paths. The garden is on a south west facing slope leading down to the bridge crossing the Smalleybrook stream into the woodland. The high water table for much of the year feeds the three linked ponds. Raised stone-walled beds feature bulbs, hellebore, pulmonarias, euphorbia etc in early spring followed by allium, tulips, geums, rhododendron and deciduous azalea in May/June. Roses, fuchsia, phlox and other seasonal perennial and annual flowering plants take over into the autumn. The woodland is at its best in the spring, with celandine, daffodils and wood anemone followed by bluebells, wild garlic and rhododendron.
