About Caervallack

The current occupants arrived at Caervallack , a Listed cob and stone farmhouse in 1995 and have spent the last 29 years adding and subtracting to the garden. They were inspired by classic English Romantic gardens arranged into rooms: Sisinghurst, Hidcote, Jeky.l, Lutyens etc.

Artist(Painter) Louise chooses the plants for colour and form ; Architect Matt does the hard landscaping, walls, topiary and mulch. We both weed and trust each other’s opinion, most of the time. Our design skills are then necessarily supplemented by Craft gardener Nick Chandler and his team once a month .

We spend our years trying to finish projects that have already been started – the National Garden Scheme is helping us achieve this goal!
